| My Arachnid Poem...!!! |
| Wednesday, October 25, 2006 |
Small, scampering spider Eight-legged freak of the night Crafting a web up in the trees Giving the meek girls a fright Catches a mosquito in its nest Ready to chew on it 'till he needs rest Gives it a deathblow to save us from itch Nutritious the insect's corpse, oh so rich So here's to you oh savior spider I raise up my glass of cider Your white web offers protection No man can raise an objection |

| Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden |
| Sunday, October 22, 2006 |
(Quicktime is Needed)
This is one of my favorite songs from another favorite metal band of mine, Iron Maiden. This is off the third Iron Maiden studio album, and was the first album for the second Iron Maiden vocalist, Bruce Dickinson (He went from 1982-1993, and then rejoined the band in 1999 and is their vocalist to this day, Thank God).
Anyway, the song is about a prisoner being sentenced to execution. He describes the array of emotions he feels as he nears his final moments. He finds it really difficult to accept his fate and wishes that this was all just a dream. In the end, he finally acceptsh is fate, perhaps it's because he is guilty of his crimes. The song refers to God a lot, and the prisoner speaks of him in a desperate and mocking tone, so he's basically implying that God will "save" him, even though he's committed whatever crime he's being hanged for, hence the line, "And though the end is near, I'm not sorry." He's going to "see the truth," which is supposed to be better than his life in prison, or anywhere on earth for that matter. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" is a line in the Christian prayer, the "Lord's Prayer/Our Father."
Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden 1982 - "The Number of the Beast" Album
[Harris]
I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time 'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallow's Pole The sands of time for me are running low
When the priest comes to read me the last rites I take a look through the bars at the last sights Of a world that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be there's been some sort of an error Hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end not some crazy dream
Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming But words escape me when I try to speak Tears they flow but why am I crying? After all am I not afraid of dying Don't believe that there never is an end
As the guards march me out to the courtyard Someone calls from a cell "God be with you" If there's a God then why has he let me die?
As I walk all my life drifts before me And though the end is near I'm not sorry Catch my soul 'cause it's willing to fly away
Mark my words believe my soul lives on Don't worry now that I have gone I've gone beyond to see the truth
When you know that your time is close at hand Maybe then you'll begin to understand Life down there is just a strange illusion
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hallowed be Thy name Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hallowed be Thy name

| Journal Entry 10/19/06 |
| Thursday, October 19, 2006 |
Really glad that this school week's almost over. I have to get through a lame vocabulary quiz AND a recitation in AP English II. I don't see a point with recitations. I think instead of simply memorizing a whole passage, why not apply that passage to our lives or in schoolwork? Memorizing, reciting, and then forgetting a stupid passage is the most pointless thing ever. I have to know Shakespeare's Sonnet 29:
When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes, I all alone beweep my outcast state And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries And look upon myself and curse my fate, Wishing me like to one more rich in hope, Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd, Desiring this man's art and that man's scope, With what I most enjoy contented least; Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising, Haply I think on thee, and then my state, Like to the lark at break of day arising From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate; For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
Speaking of things that make my blood boil, I have to mention an annoyance I find on television and entertainment in general - horrible voice actors. My God! The cheesiness and overall pathetic performace of voice actors in TV Shows, Cartoons, and Video Games make me want to beat myself with a hammer. Go to www.audioatrocities.com and listen to a few sound clips, you'll see what I mean. You'll laugh at first, and then you'll weep for humanity.
Alright I'm being a little too pessimistic here now. Anyway, I'm going to go to a special event at the Ocean County Library on Friday, I hope it'll be fun! |

| Iron Maiden Concert 10/13/06 |
| Saturday, October 14, 2006 |
Wow, was it AMAZING!
I arrived at the concert 25 minutes before the doors opened. My friend Kamil was close to the beginning of the line so my brother and I joined up with him. He had VIP tickets, so he was up in front of the stage and to the right. I was in the General Audience area, which is basically the halfway point of the show floor. I was at the center right in front of the barricade that separates General Audience from VIP, so I got a good view.
The opening band "Bullet For My Valentine" put on a good show even though I really wasn't digging their music. Many of the songs sounded rather similar to me. The fact of the matter was that everybody in the crowd wanted to hear their favorite band, not them.
So Iron Maiden came on at 9:15PM and it was incredible! Everything was great about the show.
Way too many fans complained about Iron Maiden's setlist though. I love their new album so I had no problems. My favorite A Matter of Life and Death songs are Different World, The Pilgrim, The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, For the Greater Good of God, and The Legacy. Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, and Hallowed Be Thy Name were the classic highlights of the show.
A funny tidbit of the show concerns a guy who stood next to me. He was way too into the show. He was basically MOANING and SCREAMING and SHOUTING and whatnot. It was kind of..pathetic, but humorous. His antics made my brother and I laugh. Even the security guards were amused. |

| Iron Maiden concert tomorrow!!! |
| Thursday, October 12, 2006 |
GAH! I can't wait! Iron Maiden will be having a concert on October 13th (Tomorrow) at 8PM at the Continental Airlines Arena. 'Maiden is one of my favorite bands, and this will be the first time I'm going to see them live. They released a new album back in the beginning of September, "A Matter of Life and Death" which I think is excellent. They'll be playing the whole album in addition to 5 classic Iron Maiden songs. The band before them that'll play for less than an hour is "Bullet For My Valentine." I've never heard their music and from what I've read about them they're classified as "Screamo/Emocore" which isn't really my cup of tea, but I won't judge. The whole Iron Maiden setlist is:
A Matter of Life and Death Different World These Colours Don't Run Brighter Than a Thousand Suns The Pilgrim The Longest Day Out of the Shadows The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg For the Greater Good of God Lord of Light The Legacy
Classic: Fear of the Dark Iron Maiden (encore) 2 Minutes to Midnight The Evil that Men Do Hallowed Be Thy Name
Now, the ultimate slap in the face about this whole thing? I have the SAT the morning after. Ouch. I mean, real ouch! NOT looking forward to taking it the third time. Oh well. |

| Cats. |
| Friday, October 06, 2006 |
Today as I arrived back home from school and hopped onto my PC my cat decided to be cute and jumped onto the computer desk, not caring about stepping on my keyboard or shedding fur all over, but then he just settled onto my lap. I wondered to myself as to whether cats really do love their owner. With my cat I was always under the assumption that cats were kind of selfish, that they just really wanted food, sleep, and petting.
So, I consulted Wikipedia. Now put away your pitchforks, I know that Wikipedia has a tendency to have false information! But reading and checking out some of the cat tarticles I realized that those feline kitties really can love their owner. Just because they don't express it the way a dog would doesn't mean they're cold-hearted and out for their intentions only. Right then and there I suddenly loved the furball a whole lot more and was glad to have him.
...Then he climbed onto the computer chair next to me and dirtied it up with his shedding fur.*And right then and then I stood up and shouted "That's it, Ralph! You've crossed the line! I challenge you to a duel!" And so we engaged in Mortal Kombat and I emerged the victor. But then I got a call from PETA and now I know I'll be entering into a world of pain.
*Everything past the asterisk is false and was merely added to humor/shock you/make you groan. |
