Really glad that this school week's almost over. I have to get through a lame vocabulary quiz AND a recitation in AP English II. I don't see a point with recitations. I think instead of simply memorizing a whole passage, why not apply that passage to our lives or in schoolwork? Memorizing, reciting, and then forgetting a stupid passage is the most pointless thing ever. I have to know Shakespeare's Sonnet 29:
When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes, I all alone beweep my outcast state And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries And look upon myself and curse my fate, Wishing me like to one more rich in hope, Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd, Desiring this man's art and that man's scope, With what I most enjoy contented least; Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising, Haply I think on thee, and then my state, Like to the lark at break of day arising From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate; For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
Speaking of things that make my blood boil, I have to mention an annoyance I find on television and entertainment in general - horrible voice actors. My God! The cheesiness and overall pathetic performace of voice actors in TV Shows, Cartoons, and Video Games make me want to beat myself with a hammer. Go to www.audioatrocities.com and listen to a few sound clips, you'll see what I mean. You'll laugh at first, and then you'll weep for humanity.
Alright I'm being a little too pessimistic here now. Anyway, I'm going to go to a special event at the Ocean County Library on Friday, I hope it'll be fun! |
