| My "Sound" Story - Saloon Shoot-out |
| Tuesday, November 07, 2006 |
Three aces. That’s all it’ll take for Buford to win the big bucks at the Shiny Steed Saloon. He stared at the two cards he had in his hand right now. Two bright red A’s, in my hand right now, he thought. Just that one more, damn! The dark, suspicious man sitting across from him sneered as he examined his own cards. There’s no way in hell your getting out of this game with my money, Buford thought.
“Alright, partner, dra - ” Buford’s last word was drowned out by the loud bang of a colt revolver. Right then and there he hit the deck. Not long after that several more gunshots whizzed back and forth within the saloon. Buford didn’t have a clue as to how many guns were firing, but it was almost deafening. One bullet managed to barely clip the bottom part of Buford’s ear. As the firing continued he crawled under his table. To his shock he saw the dark, suspicious man lying motionless on the dusty wooden floor. His eyes were wide open and were staring into Buford’s soul. He was dead alright. Buford was relieved to notice that the firing had suddenly ceased. “HOLD YOUR FIR - ” but whoever shouted that immediately yelled out and hit the floor with a thud as the shooting commenced, again. Buford shook his head, tipped over his own table to use as barricade, and yanked out his single-action revolver. “It’s show time, ladies!” Buford guffawed as he stood straight up and let loose. He could hear the bullets pound into the flesh of the adversaries. Within ten seconds all was quiet, and Buford holstered his pistol. He was alone in a sea of lifeless bodies. |
